Already underway, the 2nd Annual Symposium of the Global Internet
Governance Academic Network (GigaNet), has created an excellent venue
for scholars from around the world to share their research results
related to Internet Governance. The first panel was on facilitating
the creation of a Development Agenda for Internet Governance. The
second panel, shown in this photo, focused on the changing
institutional mechanisms for Internet Governance.

iPlay Music Now Working!

Wow, I must say, the Mac developer community is amazing. This morning, I thought I'd check back on the iPlay music site (the only application so far that wasn't working on my system, and they had a beta release this morning of their Leopard compatible version of iPlay). So now, it looks like I'm all set on Leopard, and I must say, it is incredibly fast and smooth, as an upgrade.

Converting TIFF to JPG

Also, by the way, I learned something on that last post. I wanted to convert a TIFF image of the stock Leopard desktop (a very cool aurora image) taken from Grab (which by default seems to save as a high quality TIFF). I did a quick search, and learned that I could do the conversion very easily in Preview (not sure if that is a Leopard feature, or if it was available in Tiger as well). Just open the image in Preview; click "Save As" and choose from one of many formats, and save it wherever you would like it. Pretty neat.

Riding the Leopard!

So far all is going well. I've installed Leopard on two of my Macs so far. On the MacBook Pro, all of my applications so far have worked well (the only one exception is a guitar training application called iPlay Music. I'll have to explore that, but otherwise, everything looks great. On my Mac Mini, I had just one little hiccup, which was that there wasn't enough space to load the new OS, and I only checked once I was already into the installation (my mistake). So, I had to quit the installation, and go back to delete some files from the Mac (using Tiger, which was still there, and presented to me as bootable disk. After I cleared away some space (deleted some redundant music files), I went back to the Leopard install (following the same procedures as before - regular upgrade - and it worked fine. I now have two growling machines. :-)
